"Occupational Health in Music: Changing Music School Culture"

Short Bio:

Kris Chesky is an active Jazz trumpeter and recently joined Johns Hopkins University as a Bloomberg Distinguished Professor.  He holds full professor status in both the Peabody Conservatory and the School of Medicine.  Prior to coming to Hopkins, Chesky was Professor of Music at the University of North Texas College of Music where he served as the founding co-director of research and education for the Texas Center for Performing Arts Health.  While at UNT, Chesky established an award-winning undergraduate occupational health coarse that served more than 3,000 undergraduate students, the first optional field of music & medicine for graduate students seeking a doctorate in music performance, and the first Ph.D. in Music Degree with a Concentration in Performing Arts & Health.
